Erratic in its first two games, defending champion San Beda tries to settle down against Arellano today in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament at Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
The Red Lions barely slipped past the St. Benilde Blazers then got ambushed by the Lyceum Pirates, leading coach Boyet Fernandez to acknowledge that it won’t be a walk in the park for San Beda in its bid for a fourth straight title this year.
“We hope to become a better team against Arellano,” said Fernandez of the 6 p.m. match.
The Blazers (0-1) and the Emilio Aguinaldo Generals (0-2) collide earlier at 4.
Nigerian center Ola Adeogun mirrored the poor start of the Lions, who split their first two games for the first time since 2006. After averaging in double figures in a preseason tournament, the 6-foot-9 center saw his numbers dip to 3.5 points per game.
