Reynante rules ITT road race

06:31 AM July 26, 2010

Lloyd Lucien Reynante established a new national record, besting an impressive field in the 40-km road race individual time trial on Sunday in the Koten Unification Races National Tryouts in Balayan, Batangas.

Reynante clocked 58 minutes and 22.5 seconds to edge Tomas Martinez by three seconds in the race that covered a tricky and challenging route passing Lian and Calatagan.

Since Reynante and Martinez have already clinched slots to the Asian Games in other events, Irish Valenzuela, who finished third 12 seconds behind Reynante and fourth placer Reynaldo Navarro will banner the country’s Asiad bid in the road race ITT.

Reynante already qualified for the RP team after finishing second in the 4-km individual time trial topped by Ronald Gorrantes at the Amoranto Velodrome last week, while Martinez placed second in the men’s points race.
