Filipino bet Roy Docyogen retained his pinweight title after forcing Saipan’s Jordan Ogo into submission with a rear naked choke in the main event of the Colt 45-Universal Reality Combat Championships (URCC) XVII over the weekend at the A. Venue Events Hall in Makati.
The 5-foot-5 Docyogen, also known as “The Punisher,” remained unbeaten in eight matches as Ogo tapped out at the 9:26-minute mark in the first round.
A member of the multi-titled Lakay Wushu team, the 25-year-old Docyogen used the “kimura tactic” to subdue the aggressive Ogo.
Froilan Sarenas of Submission Sports Philippines also had an impressive debut by downing Iran’s Razi Jabbari in the welterweight division.
Sarenas, a 29-year-old Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialist, forced Jabbari into submission with an armbar at 5:50 in the first round.
Honorio Banario ruled the lightweight division, while other winners in the 10-bout event include Norel Norada (pinweight), Regie Amarante (pinweight), Eric Kelly (feather), Carl Sabeniano (feather), Jessie Rafols (bantam), Reysaldo Transmonte (bantam) and Ukraine’s Igor Subora (heavy). Sabeniano knocked down Jerson Estoro just 18 seconds into the fight.
