MANILA, Philippines — University of Santo Tomas’ Jeric Teng is doubtful for Saturday’s game against University of the East due to his injured shoulder, the guard confirmed on Thursday.
Teng missed the Tigers practice earlier, and underwent tests to confirm the damage on his right shoulder, which he hurt in their game against National University on Wednesday in the UAAP men’s basketball tournament.
Results of the MRI — which could reveal a tear — will have to wait a few more days but the X-ray result bode well as it showed “no dislocation or fracture,” Teng told INQUIRER.net.
“I am just advised to put ice and rest. I am doubtful for Saturday’s game,” the UST’s gunner also said.
A strong push on the shoulder by NU’s Jeff Javillonar caused Teng to sit out the rest of the game.
The Tigers fell to the Bulldogs, 67-71, with Teng finishing with nine points, three rebounds and three assists in 17 minutes.
Teng, meanwhile, blasted Javillonar on Twitter for his actions, which happened with 1:15 left before halftime.
“The court is big. I was near the 3pt line and nowhere near the play. What happened didn’t come from screen rebound or seal. Can’t believe it,” he said on his account (@jericteng16).
“I didn’t see that coming! Your day will come trust me. God has his own ways. And I didn’t know that’s allowed in UAAP,” he added.
Javillonar was issued a warning by the UAAP commissioner Chito Loyzaga, and another unsportsmanlike foul for the Bulldog forward means automatic suspension.
