UST skipper Teng out indefinitely with partially torn labrum

MANILA, Philippines—University of Santo Tomas will have to make do without its star shooting guard Jeric Teng.

Teng is out indefinitely after an MRI revealed a partially torn anterior labrum in his right shoulder.

“There is no definite date when I can play again. I hope it’s sometime soon. I miss playing for all of you. It’s really sad. Very sad,” the six-foot-one Teng (@jericteng16) posted on his Twitter account Monday night.

“Very sad and disappointed to know that I have to miss a couple of games more. Mri result shows I have a slight anterior labrum tear,” UST skipper Teng, who is in his final year of eligibility, added.

Teng, who leads his team in scoring this UAAP Season 76 before hurting his shoulder against National University last Wednesday, sat out the Growling Tigers’ 88-77 win over the University of the East Red Warriors last Saturday.

Teng added: “But right now I am focused on helping the team in other ways that I can while getting better. I believe in our team. They will step up!”

“I hope all of you can continue to support the team. Long way to go but together we can do it. We are strong! #oneforust #Together”

Sans Teng, UST drew career-highs in scoring from three players in Aljon Mariano, Ed Daquioag and Cameroonian center Karim Abdul to beat UE and share second place with NU in the standings.

Teng also insisted that he sustained the injury after the Bulldogs’ Jeoff Javillionar pushed him during their game where the Tigers lost.

“Also sad to find out that my injury came from the push. Intentional or not, I forgive him. Who am I not to forgive.”
