Far Eastern U neutralized Adamson’s power game to come away with a surprisingly easy 25-19, 25-22, 25-16 victory Sunday night in the Shakey’s V-League Season 7 second conference at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

The Lady Tamaraws made the Lady Falcons bleed for their points, limiting them to just 32 points on 139 attacks as they coasted to their second straight victory.

“Everything just clicked in this game, our floor defense, our blocking,” said FEU coach Nes Pamilar, whose squad was once mired in a six-game losing skid in the V-League. “We’ve recovered from our slump. The players have adjusted, we’re doing well now.”

With its second triumph in four games, FEU joined a three-team tie for fourth together with Adamson and Lyceum, which prevailed over St. Benilde, 25-13, 25-13, 25-15, earlier Sunday.

Rachelle Anne Daquis fired 16 points, while fellow guest player Michelle Carolina poured 14 for FEU, whose squad underwent a major revamp recently.

Pamilar included 10 rookies he recruited from the Palarong Pambansa to this year’s lineup after a string of disappointing finishes.

Veterans Monique Tiangco and Cherry May Vivas superbly backstopped the two guest players by combining for 21 points. Three of Tiangco’s 13 points came on service aces.

“My rookies really look up to them. They are their inspiration,” said Pamilar. “Playing with them give the rookies confidence and that’s the reason why we’re playing well.”

With Daquis and Carolino defending brilliantly at the net, former league MVP Nerrisa Bautista was held to just 10 points after scoring 26 in the five-set victory over Lyceum.

Adamson’s two other stars, Angela Benting and Michelle Laborte, couldn’t get anything going as they were limited to a combined 12 point total.
