MANILA, Philippines — Tickets for LeBron James’ “Witness History” tour here, mostly upper box and general admissions sections, were given for free by Nike, but now being sold online and cost at least P2,000 each.

Local buy-and-sell website Sulit.ph is overflowing with ads selling tickets for James’ event at the Mall of Asia Arena on July 23, which thousands of fans lined up for as early as three days before the release.

Fans camped out outside the Nike Park store in Bonifacio High Street enduring long lines, torrential rain, heat and exhaustion just to get the chance to see James’ up close in Manila for the first time.

And that was the reason some sellers are jacking up their prices.

“Kaya po mahal kasi two days po kaming pumila. Gutom, puyat, sakit sa katawan, nabasa sa ulan, tutok sa araw. Lahat yan naranasan namin (It’s expensive because we waited for two days standing on the line. We did not sleep, went hungry, ignored the rain and the heat just to obtain the tickets)” wrote a seller, who’s peddling his gen ad tickets at P3,000.

A fan, who supposedly got just one ticket instead of two unlike Nike had earlier announced, is selling his at P2,000 because, “boring po kasi ako lang manood kaya ibebenta ko lang pandadagdag baon din (it’s boring to watch the event without a companion so I’m selling it so I can have extra pocket money).”

“Para po sana sa ’min ng partner ko ‘to pero isa lang nabigay sa akin makaraan ang 11 na oras ng maulan at nakakagutom na pagpila (I cannot take along my partner to the event. After waiting for 11 hours and being exposed to rain and getting hungry and I only got one ticket),” the seller also said.

Others, mostly those who were in line first, got two tickets each and are selling their “extras.”

“Meron na akong isang ticket. Sayang yung dalawa (I have two extra tickets),” posted one vendor, also on Sulit.ph.

Some are marketing their tickets as package deal, like one seller who priced two general admission tickets for P8,000, and another who’s selling a pair of upper box for a whopping P10,000.

INQUIRER.net tried looking for sellers on Ebay.ph, but no listings came up.
