For ‘misbehaving,’ Juvic sacked anew

Former Asian Tour No. 1 Juvic Pagunsan has been suspended again by the local golf tour for the rest of the season for failing to explain in writing why he pulled out of a tournament in June.

Pagunsan, whose previous misdemea-nors on the ICTSI Philippine Golf Tour had also rankled organizers, was sacked over the same offense two years ago.

The Japan Tour campaigner withdrew from the singles matches of The Duel—North vs. South last June, which saw the North team fight back to pip the South in the Ryder Cup-style event.

The suspension, plus a P25,000 fine, was handed down by the tour organizer, Philippine Golf Tournaments, Inc.

“Your withdrawal… injured the reputation and goodwill of the PGTI, as well as its sponsors, stakeholders and fellow competitors,” said the PGTI in a July 16 letter to the player.

In 2010, Pagunsan also withdrew from the first round of the ICTSI Forest Hills and from the second round of the ICTSI Royal Northwoods championships.

He also refused to abide by Cebu Country Club’s house rules and walked out of the 2011 Aboitiz Invitational, prompting the PGTI to sack him. Steve Silva, Contributor
