Philippines grabs Seaba U16 crown anew

MANILA, Philippines —  The Philippines stamped its class anew in the Southeast Asia Basketball Association (Seaba) Under-16 Championships, sweeping all of its assignments to retain the crown.

An 85-44 clobbering of Singapore on Friday capped the Philippines’ four-game romp in the tournament, which also earned them a spot in the Fiba Asia U16 tournament in Iran.

Ateneo’s Jose Lorenzo ‘‘Jolo’’ Mendoza was adjudged the MVP of the competition held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

The Filipinos earlier routed Indonesia, 87-52, defeated Thailand, 82-58, and nipped Malaysia, 76-72, before facing the winless Singaporeans.
