ADAMSON will file an official complaint before the UAAP technical committee today, citing the “missed calls and bad calls” in the Falcons’ narrow 70-67 loss to the La Salle Green Archers in men’s basketball last Wednesday.
“We fought back but the sad thing is we didn’t get a good break down the stretch,” said Adamson coach Leo Austria of the loss where a controversial call in the dying seconds doomed the Falcons.
But Adamson officials clarified that the complaint aims to highlight only the poor officiating, not a game protest.
“We will file a complaint,” said Malou Isip, Adamson’s representative to the UAAP board.
The Falcons rallied from 15 points down in the last five minutes to knot the contest at 65, before Jeron Teng sank two free throws that gave the Archers the lead, 67-65.
Before the Falcons could tie the game anew, referee Francisco Olivar Jr. slapped an unsportsmanlike foul on Adamson’s Lloyd Abrigo with just 15.9 seconds left. The controversial call awarded the Archers two free throws.
A league rule states that fouls made away from the ball or in a deadball situation in the last two minutes of the game merit an unsportsmanlike foul.
