MANILA, Philippines – Qatar overcame an eight-point deficit in the fourth quarter to edge Japan, 75-74, in Group B of the 27th FIBA-Asia Championship Thursday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Yasseen Ismail Musa notched a double-double with 12 points and 15 rebounds as Qatar climbed back from a 53-61 hole to start the final frame.
Ex-NBA veteran Jarvis Hayes also came through for Qatar late — knocking down a baseline jumper that made it a two-possession game, 74-70, before splitting on his charities to seal the game with only 5.4 ticks left.
