MANILA, Philippines – Philippines banked on a big third quarter before holding off Jordan late for a 77-71 win in the 27th FIBA-Asia Championship Friday night at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

The Nationals, who trailed by as much as 11 in the second quarter, closed the third quarter on a 17-0 run, to take a 57-47 lead entering the final quarter.

Smart Gilas Pilipinas faces Chinese Taipei, which is also unbeaten at 2-0 in Group A, Saturday night.
