MANILA, Philippines – Jordan ran away in the second half to fashion out an 80-51 over winless Hong Kong in day two of the second round of the 27th FIBA Asia men’s Championship Tuesday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Jordan, which lost to unbeaten Qatar, 61-75, Monday, improved to 1-3 and kept its quarterfinals chances alive in Group E.
Mohammad Hadrab showed the way for the Jordanians, who asserted their size with a 51-34 rebounding edge, with 21 points and seven rebounds.
Jordan, which takes on Japan Wednesday, took a commanding 61-40 lead over Hong Kong on a buzzer-beating basket by Abdalla Abuqoura after just holding a 13-point advantage at halftime.
Also-ran Hong Kong’s next opponent is host Philippines, which will try to draw Qatar’s first loss in the tournament Tuesday night.
