MANILA, Philippines — Smart Gilas Pilipinas trails South Korea, 36-39, at halftime of their semifinal match Saturday in the 27th FIBA Asia Men’s Championships.
The Filipinos trailed by as many as seven points twice in the second period, but Marc Pingris rallied them to pull just within a point, 36-37, with 1:33 left.
Pingris had 10 points at the half, while Jason Castro added eight.
Naturalized center Marcus Douthit, meanwhile, had to be subbed out midway the quarter as he seemed to have aggravated his right leg injury.
