Arum: I have never seen a fighter like Manny

GRAPEVINE, TEXAS—Every time I see him fight, he keeps on getting better. This was the reaction by renowned promoter Bob Arum after watching Manny Pacquiao execute another masterful performance against Antonio Margarito on Saturday (Sunday in Manila) in their showdown for the WBC super welterweight championship. Arum said despite the distractions when Pacquiao was still training in Baguio City, the Sarangani representative was able to keep his focus  when Freddie Roach moved training camp to his Wild Card Gym in Hollywood.

“I’ve never, ever seen a fighter like Manny,” said Arum, who always heaps praises on Pacquiao, but got critical a bit when he saw that Pacquiao was sluggish entering the third week of training camp. Arum said next in line for Pacquiao are possibly Floyd Mayweather Jr., Shane Mosley and Juan Manuel Marquez, not necessarily in that order. Mayweather remains a big question mark as the former pound-for-pound king seems not interested to fight Pacquiao. Mosley stands a good chance as Arum has reportedly initiated talks with the Mosley camp since last week in Las Vegas. Of course, Marquez is back in the equation as Arum is finding  it harder to field in fighters from his Top Rank promotions against Pacquiao. “He’s now beaten Miguel Cotto, Joshua Clottey and now Margarito,” Arum said.
