Lions clash with Stags as NCAA wars resume

SAN BEDA hopes the two-week break didn’t take away all the momentum it has built over the past month.

The defending champion Lions seek to continue their winning ways when they clash with dangerous San Sebastian at 6 p.m. today at the resumption of the 89th NCAA basketball at Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

On a five-game roll, the Lions are looking to stay in sharp form despite not playing for 16 days as the league took a break for the Fiba Asia Championship.

“We tried our best to manage the break and keep the players focused,” said San Beda coach Boyet Fernandez, whose charges split their first two games, before finally finding their groove.

The Stags have established themselves as a contender this season with a 4-3 record behind a string of fine performances that came after an early two-game slide to a 4-3 record.

St. Benilde guns for a second straight victory against struggling Arellano in the first game at 4 p.m.

The Blazers finally broke into the win column at the expense of Lyceum three weeks ago and coach Gabby Velasco hopes the triumph will spark a turnaround for St. Benilde.
