THERE’s one less NBA superstar Gilas Pilipinas has to deal with in the Fiba World Championship in Spain next year.

Kobe Bryant said he won’t suit up for Team USA in the world stage where the Philippines has secured a berth for the first time in three decades after finishing second in the recent 27th Fiba Asia Championship.

The Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard did give a piece of advice for the national squad in response to a question by the Inquirer during a press conference yesterday at Passion Restaurant at Maxims Hotel.

“Just continue to play together and don’t rely on the strength of an individual,” said Bryant, who was in Manila for the sixth time for a Lenovo Mobile promotional tour.

“A team can always hide the weakness an individual has. So more important than anything else is teamwork. If you do that, you’ll be able to accomplish something special.”

A star-studded NBA cast led by Kevin Durant will banner Team USA.

“I’ll let the young guys play,” Bryant said.
