MANILA, Philippines — San Beda and Lyceum cruised to their third consecutive win after beating respective rivals Tuesday in the 11th Fr. Martin Division 2 Cup at the Arellano University gym.
The Red Lions leaned on the performances of Pierre Tankoua, Daryl Nazareno and Alfred Sedilla to thwart the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals, 65-53.
Tankoua led the way with 14 points while Daryl Nazareno and Alfred Sedilla had 11 apiece.
Cameroonian import Guy Essono came through with 24 points for the Pirates, who scored an 80-57 drubbing of the San Sebastian Stags.
Meanwhile, National University dominated Angeles University, 86-60, in Group B behind big man Alfred Aroga.
Aroga, the burly center, asserted his size to come away with 26 points as the Bulldogs improved to 2-1.
Essono helped Lyceum to break loose from a tight first half with 11 points in the third quarter where the Pirates pulled away, 58-39.
The Lions hiked their record to 4-1 to lead Group B in the standings.
In juniors action, Michael Rodriguez’s 15 points carried the Mapua Red Robins over the Jose Rizal University Light Bombers, 64-61, while Jayson Cervantes’ 25 markers led the San Benildo Blazing Wolves to a 75-52 crushing of the Letran Squires.
