MANILA, Philippines — Emilio Aguinaldo College frustrated Arellano, 79-63, Saturday in the NCAA season 89 men’s basketball tournament at the Arena in San Juan.
Igee King caught fire for the Generals early in the fourth quarter, before Noube Happi and Jolas Paguia kept them on course en route to an 18- point lead.
King finished with 20 points, four rebounds and four assists, while Happi and Paguia chipped in 19 and 16 points, respectively, with 10 boards each.
EAC, which played catch-up for most of the first half before mounting a rally, improved to 3-5 and tied with St. Benilde at sixth.
Arellano, playing way below expectations after a strong pre-season showing, meanwhile, dropped to 2-6.
Bigman Prince Caperal had 16 points and 11 boards for the Chiefs.
Action didn’t stop at the final buzzer, though, as the two teams nearly came to blows on their way to the dugout.
Arellano’s James Forrester had to be restrained by security as he was about to confront EAC’s Syd Onwubere.
