MANILA, Philippines – Ricky Dandan is officially out as University of the Philippines head coach as confirmed by the school’s UAAP board representative Ronnie Dizer Monday afternoon.
Dizer, dean of UP College of Human Kinetics, said Dandan submitted his resignation letter Monday.
Dandan, who will be replaced by Rey Madrid, was the Fighting Maroons coach for nearly three seasons posting a 3-33 record, including a 0-8 start so far this year.
Dizer added that Dandan will remain with UP’s sports program as a science and technical consultant.
Dandan’s final game manning the UP sidelines was a 59-67 loss to the Ateneo Blue Eagles last Thursday where the Maroons squandered a double-digit halftime lead.
