MANILA, Philippines — Snapping out of a losing skid is one thing, doing so without a key player is another.
Far Eastern University, currently on a two-game slide, will have to double its efforts when it takes on University of the East sans its star guard RR Garcia, who was given a one-game suspension Tuesday after committing his second unsportsmanlike foul this UAAP Season 76.
The Tamaraws, coming off their first back-to-back losses of the year against the National University Bulldogs and De La Salle Green Archers after sweeping the first round, look to get back on the winning track against the Red Warriors Sunday.
FEU coach Nash Racela had said it’s going to be tough without Garcia, one of his team’s primary weapons along with Terrence Romeo, but “somebody has to step up.”
Garcia, the 2010 MVP, incurred his second unsportsmanlike foul after hitting the Green Archers guard Oda Tampus with an elbow in the third quarter of the Tamaraws’ 66-75 loss last Sunday.
Committing two unsportsmanlike fouls in a season merits an automatic one-game ban.
