FOOTBALL legends Fabio Cannavaro and Dennis Wise are relishing the opportunity of playing before Filipino fans in the star-studded Clear Dream Match Saturday at University of Makati field.
Cannavaro and Weiss reinforce the teams of brothers James and Phil Younghusband, respectively, in the football showcase which also involves several members of the national team and stars of the United Football League.
Skipper of the Italian team that captured the 2006 Fifa World Cup, Cannavaro will be looking to help James Younghusband avenge last year’s defeat to his younger brother’s team.
Known for his tenacious defending and brilliant leadership of the Azzuri, Cannavaro was also a former winner of the Fifa World Player of the Year in 2006.
“Last year’s match was one sided, this year I want to help James even the score,” Cannavaro, who had stints with Juventus and Real Madrid, said.
James and Cannavaro will join forces with Yves Ashime, Jason de Jong, Misagh Bahadoran, Saba Garmaroudi, Oussey Diop, Roxy Dorlas, Chieffy Caligdong, Tony Toni, Nico Bolzico, Jonah Romero, Ian Araneta, Simon Greatwich, Andrew Santiago, Daniel Matsunaga, Slick Rick, Fabio Ide and Ref Cuaresma.
One of the revered players from Chelsea Football Club, Wise also played for the English national team. He will be part of Phil Younghusband’s side.
They will team up with Carlie de Murga, Jeff Christiaens, Park Min Ho, OJ Porteria, Patrick Deyto, Chad Gould, Masai Omura, Jinggoy Valmayor, Chris Greatwich, Byeong Yeol Jeong, Anton Del Rosario, Boyet Canedo, Sam Y G, Nick O’Donnell, Armand del Rosario, Mikko Mabanag and Ronald Batisla-Ong.
