MANILA, Philippines—The Philippines lost to Iran, 14-16, in the quarterfinal round of the 2013 Asian Youth Games 3-on-3 in Nanjing, China Wednesday.
The Philippine team, composed of Andrei Caracut, George Isaac Go and Patrick Ramirez, failed to sustain its commanding 9-2 lead as the Iranians showed their poise in the thrilling match to advance into the semifinal stage.
The Philippines will take on the loser between Chinese Taipei and Malaysia in the consolation phase.
The PH team, coached by Nic Jorge, had beaten Indonesia (10-8), Saudi Arabia (14-10) and most recently Maldives (21-10) last Sunday before falling to Iran.
