New PBA Governors’ Cup sched features rare Tuesday games

MANILA, Philippines —  The Philippine Basketball Association will feature two rare Tuesday double-headers in the 2013 Governors’ Cup as the league released an amended schedule of games on Friday.

After tropical storm “Maring” wiped out Wednesday’s games, the PBA, already pressed for time after revising its calender due to the FIBA Asia Championships, had to make another set of changes.

Petron Blaze and Barako Bull and Meralco and Alaska will go head-to-head on September 3, while Rain or Shine and Barako Bull and Alaska and San Mig Coffee slug it out on September 10.

Both Tuesday game dates are scheduled at Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

The league also opted to move games scheduled at Ynares Center in Antipolo City to other venues, thus removing the September 7 playdate.

The Meralco-Air 21, Petron-GlobalPort matches, originally scheduled at Ynares on September 15, will be played at the refurbished Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay instead.

The brief elimination round of the season-ending conference, though, will still end on September 22 as initially planned.
