WITH the overall title beyond reach, Mark Galedo of 7-Eleven/Roadbike Philippines went through the motions in the final stage Friday and sealed a 10th place windup in the Tour de Borneo in Sabah, Malaysia.
Iranian Ghader Mizbani, who grabbed the individual leadership in Stage 4, marked his rivals in the 112-kilometer ride from Kundasang to Kota Kinabalu to rule the five-day race.
Mizbani, also the reigning Le Tour de Filipinas champion, clinched his second crown in four months after arriving five seconds behind stage winner and Tabriz Petrochemical teammate Mehdi Sohrabi (2:14:48).
Galedo, last year’s Ronda Pilipinas champion, crossed the finish line with a large group of riders less than a minute behind Sohrabi to emerge as the best Filipino performer at the end of the Union Cycliste Internationale category 2.2 race.
Galedo was 13:03 minutes behind Mizbani.
Mountain specialist Junrey Navarra of LBC-MVP Sports Foundation finished 14th overall, 16:37 off the pace.
Also completing the Tour were Ryan Boots Cayubit (17th), Baler Ravina (23rd), Marcelo Felipe (25th) and Mark Julius Bordeos (27th).
Iranian Samah Poor Seiedi of Tabriz placed second overall (0:08 behind) with Australian Joseph Cooper third (6:28). June Navarro
