Singapore Open: Pucay wins $47,400

SINGAPORE—Mars Pucay picked up $47,400 (about P2.07 million) for placing in a six-way tie for 31st place in the $6 million Barclays Singapore Open Monday and emerged as the second best Filipino in the Asian Tour Order of Merit. The 40-year-old Pucay finished with a 4-under-par 280 total on rounds of 72, 65, 72 and 71 and, with his biggest check in 14 events so far, boosted his earnings to $105,195 while moving 10 places up to No. 26 in the AOM.

Angelo Que, who missed the cut along with Juvic Pagunsan, remained the top Filipino in the AOM at No. 20 with $132,771. Pagunsan dropped from 32nd to 42nd with $73,765 followed by Antonio Lascuña, who tied for 54th here at 285 and collected $19,114, giving him a total of $62,251 so far. Jay Bayron finished dead last at 291 and settled for $8,995. Adam Scott of Australia shot a 68 to win his third Singapore Open by three strokes, completing his final 10 holes Monday after a lengthy thunderstorm suspension Sunday. Scott, who won at the Sentosa Golf Club in 2005 and 2006, had a 72-hole total of 267. Anders Hansen of Denmark shot a 68 to finish second, and Sweden’s Rikard Karlberg (67) and US Open champion Graeme McDowell (70) tied for third, four off Scott. Asian Tour News
