MANILA, Philippines – Barako Bull weathered a late storm by Air21 to win 103-94 Sunday in the 2013 PBA Governors’ Cup at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

The Energy blew a 20-point lead 67-47 it built early in the second quarter as the Express pulled to within two 92-94 after a triple by Niño Canaleta with still 4:46 to go.

“It’s a big win for us. It’s our second straight win. We played good basketball in the first half. In the second half I told them the game was not over,” said Barako Bull coach Rajko Toroman.

“We put ourselves in good position to make the quarterfinals. In the second half we lost our rhythm and we gave Air21 a chance to come back.”

But a trey by Eman Monfort followed by an off-balanced basket by Michael Singletary restored order for Barako Bull, which improved to 2-1.

Singletary led the Energy with 41 points, 12 rebounds and two blocks while Ronjay Buenafe and Danny Seigle added 18 points each.
