MANILA—A total of 24 schools are represented in the 2011 ICTSI Interschools golf tournament firing off today at the Splendido Taal Golf and Country Club in Nasugbu, Batangas.
Arch rivals La Salle and Ateneo head the participating schools represented by about 160 junior players vying for six divisions in the tournament marking the start of a series of school season events staged by the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines.
Also seeing action are Brent, Colegio San Agustin, Xavier, Hope Christian School, Seibo College Foundation, Deilchodung Hakugo Korean School, Immaculate Concepcion Academy, Miriam, La Salle Canlubang, Elizabeth Seton, Harvest Christian School, Angelicum, TFCA, Marist, Morning Dew Montessori, Gateway School, Southville, St. Scholastica, Lyceum and Assumption.
The Interschools tournament is also sponsored by Philippine Airlines, Teriyaki Boy, Sizzlin Pepper, Golf Depot, Chevrolet, Friends of Jungolf and Inquirer Golf.
Today’s batch of players will play in the juniors and girls 1 and 2 brackets with the Seniors, Midgets 1 and Midgets 2 entries taking their turn next week at the same course. A separate individual event for grades 2 to 4 will be hosted by Royale Tagaytay next week.
