CEBU-BASED Jan Godfrey Seno clinched the 14-under boys’ singles title at the expense of Japanese Koki Matsuda, 5-7, 6-3, 6-1, in the 3rd Malacca ATF Tennis Championship series in Malaysia recently.

The 13-year-old Seno, who will be competing in his first International Tennis Federation tournament in Colombo, Sri Lanka, this October, also reached the semifinals of the boys’ doubles in partnership with Martin Benjamin Jacob.

Seno, sponsored by the Philippine Tennis Academy, was accompanied by PTA coach Rollyto Litang in the tournament.

The PTA is a grassroots tennis development program aimed at identifying young talents in the provinces and providing them with training and international exposure. It was started in 2011 by tennis enthusiasts Jean Henri Lhuillier, Oscar Hilado, Rommie Chan and Hanky Lee.
