MANILA, Philippines — Tempers flared even after the final buzzer on Sunday as Ateneo head coach Bo Perasol confronted a reported La Salle fan.
After the Blue Eagles’ 64-66 setback to rival Green Archers, Perasol had to be restrained by his staff and the venue’s security on his way to the dugout at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Perasol furiously reacted to alleged snide comments by a heckler, who was seated at the patron section of the Green Archers’ side at the Big Dome.
“I just gave him a piece of my mind. He doesn’t have to be there and tell me those kinds of things,” Perasol told INQUIRER.net in a phone call.
Perasol, who was called for a technical with a minute left in the game, said the supporter was “saying bad things” and singled him out.
“He was yelling things that I didn’t like. Then I heard him say Perasol,” the Ateneo mentor also said in Filipino.
“I don’t think that’s the real character of the La Sallians. Pero kung mahusay siya, magsabi siya sa harap ko. Hindi yung sa likod tapos hindi may rehas.”
Ateneo dropped to 6-5 after the setback, while La Salle claimed solo third with a 7-4 mark.
