V-League: Meralco zaps Navy

MANILA, Philippines — Raring to bounce back, Meralco leaned on its Chinese spiker Wang Coco to assure itself of a win over Philippine Navy, 25-21, 25-22, 25-16, in the Shakey’s V-League Open Conference Tuesday at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

The six-foot-three Wang towered over everyone else en route to a game-high 18 points as the Power Spikers bolstered their bid for a quarterfinals slot.

Wang, who also had 18 points in a straight-set loss to Cagayan Valley the previous time, got much-needed support particularly from Fille Cainglet.

Cainglet registered 13 points, all on power hits, as she teamed up with Wang that created problems for the Lady Sailors. Michelle Laborte scored 12 points for winless Navy.
