Stags blast Generals, snap 3-game slide in NCAA 89

MANILA, Philippines – Tough on defense, San Sebastian arrested a three-game slide after clobbering Emilio Aguinaldo College, 90-69, Thursday in the NCAA season 89 men’s basketball competition at the Arena in San Juan.

The Stags, determined to get back on winning track in the second round, swatted away 14 shots and notched 23 fastbreak points compared to the Generals’ eight.

“We just recommitted to what really works for us. Us playing together, on offense and defense,” said head coach Topex Robinson.

Lethal duo of Jovit Dela Cruz and John Ortuoste combined for 52 points of San Sebastian, while Mark Taño and Leo De Vera teamed up for 10 blocks.

“It’s all about hustle points, it’s very crucial for us,” Robinson said.

The Stags, who raised their record to 5-5, zoomed away using 29 fourth quarter points as the Generals just managed to score 14 points.

Noube Happi led EAC, whose three-game winning streak was snapped, with 16 points while Jack Arquero, Francis Munsayac and Jolas Paguia each chipped in 10.
