Pacman’s Lake Tahoe concert on
HOLLYWOOD—The concert is on for the king of the ring.
Until Sunday, Pacquiao was hurting from two vicious left hooks to the rib cage he absorbed from Antonio Margarito in the sixth round of their showdown for the World Boxing Council super welterweight title.
The Filipino ring superstar went to the hospital for a check-up on the recommendation of Dr. Regina Bagsic, his gastroenterologist.
Pacquiao was found to be suffering only from muscle trauma after his bruising battle with Margarito, who outweighed him by 17 pounds on fight night at the Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
According to Mike Koncz, Pacquiao’s adviser, the eight-division champion was accompanied to Lake Tahoe by the MP band, soloist Madonna Decena and wife Jinkee.
Koncz also said that MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) would not be done on Pacquiao as he no longer looked pale.
When he woke up Monday at their home in Hancock Park, Pacquiao was already feeling fine, according to trusted aide Alex Oreto, who cooks for Pacquiao and attends to his needs.
“After breakfast, the Pacquiao couple watched television and monitored the news back home,” said Oreto.
Pacquiao is scheduled to fly back to Manila on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Margarito acknowledged Monday that Pacquiao is “the best fighter in the world today.”
“I would like to congratulate Manny Pacquiao for his win on Saturday night,” said Margarito in a statement released by Top Rank.
“I gave it all I had, but unfortunately I was not able to get the victory over the best fighter in the world today.”
