MANILA, Philippines — Adamson continued its dominance in the UAAP season 76 women’s beach volley tournament as the Lady Falcons inched closer to a sweep of the eliminations Sunday at the UE Caloocan sand court.
The Lady Falcons’ amazing duo of Sheila Pineda and Amanda Villanueva powered past the towering Dindin Santiago and Mina Aganon of the Lady Bulldogs, 21-8, 21-15, to go undefeated in six games.
Last on Adamson’s list in the eliminations is its last year’s tormentor in University of Santo Tomas’ pair of Maru Banaticla and Pam Lastimosa, who earlier tripped Krysel Cueva and Jessica Paron of UE, 21-13, 21-19 for a 5-1 slate in the women’s volleyball.
If the Lady Falcons, last year’s runner-up, perfects the eliminations, they will gain an outright entry to the finals along with a thrice-to-beat advantage.
La Salle, meanwhile, improved to 2-2 as Lady Spikers Kim Fajardo and Cienne Cruz delivered with a 23-21, 21-9 triumph over cellar dweller Far Eastern University, carried by Bernadeth Pons and Kyla Atienza.
Ateneo, bannered by Alyssa Valdez and Bea Tea also kept in step of the frontrunners after stretching University of the Philippines’ winless skid, 21-11, 21-10 for a 4-1 slate.
In the men’s beach volley division, the Bulldogs also need just one more win to barge into the finale after dominating the Tigers, 21-16, 21-14, earlier at the same venue.
