Avenido returns to lead Skyforce to fifth win in Danny Espiritu Cup

MANILA, Philippines — Leo Avenido returned and helped Skyforce to clinch solo first with a 90-83 win over Sealions in the 2013 Danny Espiritu Cup basketball tournament at Reyes Gym in Mandaluyong.

The returning Avenido, who missed Skyforce’s game last Friday, pumped in 22 points — five in the crucial last minutes — and added four rebounds, five assists, and two steals.

Ronjay Enrile also had solid end game and finished 16 points, along with a two-pointer with 15 seconds remaining which sealed Skyforce’s fifth victory.

Sealions, meanwhile, dropped to 3-1 in the tournament named after the famous sports agent where ex-pros and standouts from the amateurs come to play.

Ronnie Zagala had 23 points, five rebounds and four assists to pace Sealions, which missed the services of veteran guard Egay Billones.
