Gabica reaches World 9-Ball final, faces Germany’s Hohmann
MANILA, Philippines — Filipino Antonio Gabica took the last seven sets and defeated United Kingdom’s Karl Boyes, 11-6, Friday (Manila time) to set foot in the WPA World 9-Ball Championships in Doha, Qatar.
The Qatar-based Gabica, who won the gold medal in the 2006 Asian Games, shoots for the ultimate prize in the $250,000 tournament against Germany’s Thorsten Hohmann later.
Hohmann, winner in the 2011 Philippine Pool Open, earlier bundled out another Filipino cue artist in Carlo Biado, 11-4, at the Al Arabi Sports Club.
