San Beda moves ahead of idle Letran in first after win over EAC
MANILA, Philippines—Defending champion San Beda gained solo first place after it outfought Emilio Aguinaldo College, 71-64, in the NCAA Season 89 men’s basketball tournament Saturday night at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
Art dela Cruz dropped 16 points while Baser Amer registered 15 points for the Red Lions, who moved half a game ahead of idle Letran Knights with a 10-2 record.
Noube Happi had 17 points for the Generals, who put up a gallant effort but just couldn’t hang with the loaded Lions in the second half.
EAC, which took a 33-31 halftime lead after a slow start, reeled to its seventh setback in 12 stints.
