V-League: PNP notches first win at expense of winless FEU

MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Police finally barged into the win column after beating Far Eastern University, 25-20, 25-14, 20-25, 25-19, in the Shakey’s V-League Season 10 Open Conference Tuesday at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

Thai import Sangmuang Patcharee and Janine Marciano led the way for the Lady Patrollers, who logged their first win in six games, with 23 and 21 points, respectively.

PNP dominated the first two sets but stepped back a bit in the third set allowing FEU to stay in the game.

“Nag-celebrate agad mga players nung third set pero madali naman kami naka-recover sa fourth set,” said PNP coach Bob Malenab.

The Lady Tamaraws banked on Mary Joy Palma. Palma delivered 19 points including five blocks but it wasn’t enough as her team reeled to its sixth straight setback in as many stints.
