Hunt for top Luzon boxers on

Already rich with boxing talents in Visayas and Mindanao, ALA Promotions has expanded its search for bright prospects in Luzon.

The Cebu-based professional stable yesterday unveiled the ALA-Cobra Tunay Na Lakas Boxing Tour Luzon—a road show that will showcase little-known boxers in major cities and provinces throughout the region.

ALA Promotions vice president/general manager Dennis Canete said they would use the same framework that allowed the outfit owners Tony and Michael Aldeguer to discover current and potential stars in the Vis-Min area.

“We’re pretty sure a lot of skilled fighters can be found here in Luzon. We will tour the area so they can have an avenue to fight,” said Canete, who graced the weekly PSA Forum at Shakey’s Malate with ALA events manager Claire Anne Lukban.

First stop of the Luzon talent identification search will be on Saturday at Mandaluyong City Gymnasium, where ALA Promotions put up a six-fight card featuring some of the best pro boxers in Metro Manila.

“Hopefully, in time, we’ll find boxing idols here in Luzon,” said Lukban.

Lukban added that the Luzon tour will also have stops in Pagsanjan, Laguna next month, Makati City in November, Antipolo City in December and Cavite City in January next year.
