7 imported horses dispute Elias race

/ 01:49 AM September 21, 2013

SEVEN battle-scarred imports led by Juggling Act and Crucis slug it out this afternoon in the fifth leg of the Philracom Imported-Local series named after the great Jockey Elias at Metro Turf Club in Malvar, Batangas.

This marks the first time that the local racing industry will be paying tribute to Elias “Eleng” Ordiales, probably the most recognizable name in local horseracing in the 1970s.

A total pot of P500,000 will be disputed in the 2,000-meter race with Jonathan Hernandez riding Juggling Act and Jeffryl Zarate partnering Crucis.

“Elias” scored his biggest wins aboard Native Gift, that enigmatic horse who almost pulled off a Triple Crown sweep in 1974. Musong R. Castillo
