TOYOTA Motors Philippines is returning to the racing scene in style.
And the Japanese carmaker is doing it using one of their safest and most affordable vehicles.
Toyota is launching the Vios Cup in Oct. 12 at Clark Speedway in a fitting prelude to a highly anticipated four-leg series that will kick off in 2014.
TMP vice president for marketing Jose Ariel Arias expressed excitement at the prospect of the full-model Vios pushed to its limits.
“We’ve been gone from racing for less than 10 years and what better way to return than with our Vios, which is really known as a safe and fun car,” said Arias at the media launch of the event Friday at Midas Hotel in Pasay City.
Toyota will work hand in hand with Tuason Racing School to organize the event, which will include training of participants.
Celebrities and media personalities will test the race-equipped Vios cars in the launch next month at Clark.
There will be 10 cars on the grid for five celebrities, which include actress Rhian Ramos, actor Aljur Abrenica, and five journalists.
The modified car will be available in the market starting December and will be limited to the first 35 participants, who will need undergo training at TRS, according to Arias.
Arias said TMP Is planning to make the Vios Cup an annual event.
“In the Philippines we will be making this an annual event,” said Arias. “It’s going to be a series with a minimum of four races. Its really an affordable way to enjoy the car and racing at the same time.
