Drexler, Horry, Rose in Manila for NBA Global Games
MANILA, Philippines—Players from the Houston Rockets and Indiana Pacers won’t be the only big names coming over to the Philippines on October 10.
NBA legends Clyde Drexler, Robert Horry and Jalen Rose are all set to add flair to the first-ever NBA Global Games in Manila at the Mall of Asia Arena, the league announced on Wednesday.
Article continues after this advertisementDrexler, a former Portland Trailblazer and a Houston Rocket, along with Robert Horry, a seven-time NBA champion with three different squads, are familiar with the basketball-crazed country, having visited the Philippines in 2011 and 2010.
Rose, who played alongside Reggie Miller on the Indiana Pacers, is visiting for the first time.
“The fans are very passionate about the game. I’ve been very, very fortunate to travel to a bunch of places and experience different cultures. And everyone has that love for you,” said Horry in a statement.
Article continues after this advertisementRose, meanwhile, has been informed of the country’s immense knowledge of hoops and noted how the fans’ “truly craved and supported NBA basketball”.
These three NBA greats will be the league’s veritable ambassadors for the NBA Global Games.
In other parts of the world that will be hosting their own NBA Global Games, which is a record of 12 NBA teams playing 10 regular season and pre-season games in 10 cities in seven countries and territories, other legends will be served as veritable ambassadors as well.
