MANILA, Philippines — National University made quick work of University of Santo Tomas, 21-16, 21-17, on Thursday to book its second straight UAAP men’s beach volley crown at the UE Caloocan sand court.

Edwin Tolentino, who later on bagged the MVP crown, along with Josephenry Tipay only needed 34 minutes to finish off the Growling Tigers.

NU actually went perfect in the elimination round to gain an outright entry to the Finals but bowed to UST, 15-21, 17-21 in the finals opener last week.

But the Tigers, this time, groped for form as Mark Gil Alfafara and Kris Roy Guzman could not get their rhythm going all match long.

NU, which bounced back in game two with a 21-10, 18-21, 15-11, became the third team to win two men’s beach volley championships after Far Eastern University and UST.

The Tigers climbed back into contention and settled for second place after a dismal last place finish in season 75.
