‘Macca’ signs up for Challenge PH 2014

TOPNOTCH triathlete Chris McCormack of Australia will be gracing the Challenge Philippines race next year.

Known as “Macca” in race circles, McCormack will serve as Challenge Family ambassador for the next 10 years and is expected to add star power to the Challenge Philippines race set in Subic.

“I can’t wait for Challenge Philippines, the course looks great, absolutely beautiful and I know it will be one of the best events in the 2014 race calendar,” the Australian triathlete said.

The Challenge series in the Philippines is an offshoot of the iconic Challenge Roth, which McCormack won from 2004 to 2007.
Challenge Roth is considered as one of the biggest triathlon series in the world with close to 5,000 participants.

The Challenge Philippines will be one of the most lucrative races in the country with the top finishers in the elite race pocketing $6,500 in prize money.

The Southeast Asian Elite Top 3, where Philippine national team members are qualified to compete, offers $3,000 in total prize money in each category.  Half of the purse  will go to the champion.
