NU forges decider against La Salle in UAAP women’s finals

MANILA, Philippines—National University bounced back with a 67-52 victory Saturday over La Salle Wednesday and extended the UAAP season 76 women’s basketball finals to a decider.

Andrea Tongco, who was limited to just three points in game one, exploded for 23 points built on a perfect three-point shooting clip to carry the Lady Bulldogs in evening the series.

Afril Bernardino also stepped up and added 14 points and 11 rebounds for NU, which succumbed to a 48-72 setback last Saturday.

The Lady Archers, who banked on defense last time around, only had 22 points in the second half while the Lady Bulldogs went for 36 markers.

Ara Abaca, whose double-double effort in the opener provided a huge boost for La Salle, fell short with just six points. Trisha Piatos topscored with 14.

Game three is on Saturday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
