Japanese coach tapped for Filipino gymnasts
The Gymnastics Association of the Philippines has tapped Japanese coach Kugimiya Munehiro to fast-track the development of the national gymnastics team.
Since arriving late last week, Munehiro, 29, has been working out with members of the men’s artistic gymnastics squad in preparation for future international competitions.
A former national gymnast, Munehiro coached for four years at the Juntendo University, a private university in Tokyo popular in health and sports science.

“But we cannot be entirely dependent on government funds in pursuing our goals to make our gymnasts at par with the best in the world. For this, we are intensifying our efforts to get more sponsors to support us,” she added.
Munehiro was hired by the GAP through the efforts of Good Works and Mission Foundation, Zippy Action Sports and the Philippine Sports Commission.
