David sent to Meralco, Globalport gets Ross in PBAtrade

MANILA, Philippines — GlobalPort sent scoring champion Gary David to Meralco in a four-player trade which got the greenlight of the PBA Commissioner’s office Friday afternoon.

David, one of the heroes in Smart Gilas Pilipinas’ Fiba Asia conquest, was sent away along with rookie guard AJ Mandani by the the Batang Pier in exchange for Bolts’ Chris Timberlake and starting point Chris Ross.

GlobalPort, which recently scored its first ever quarterfinals appearance, also acquired Meralco’s 2016 and 2017 second round draft picks.

Ross reunites with good pal Sol Mercado as the Batang Pier look to build on the momentum it got in the PBA Governors’ Cup to make a deeper run in the new season next Month.

David, meanwhile, joins Mac Cardona and Jared Dillinger among others in a talented Meralco roster which just narrowly missed a trip to the finals against San Mig Coffee.
