Bradley nips Marquez to retain WBO welterweight title

American Timothy Bradley retained his WBO welterweight title after edging Mexican Juan Manuel Marquez via split decision Sunday afternoon (Manila time) at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Bradley (31-0, 12KOs) earned the nod of the two judges, who both scored it 115-113, while the other had it 116-112 for the 40-year-old Marquez (55-7-1, 40KOs).

Marquez, who knocked out rival Manny Pacquiao in his previous fight, failed to become the first Mexican to win a world title in a fifth weight class.
