American Timothy Bradley retained his WBO welterweight title after edging Mexican Juan Manuel Marquez via split decision Sunday afternoon (Manila time) at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Bradley (31-0, 12KOs) earned the nod of the two judges, who both scored it 115-113, while the other had it 116-112 for the 40-year-old Marquez (55-7-1, 40KOs).
Marquez, who knocked out rival Manny Pacquiao in his previous fight, failed to become the first Mexican to win a world title in a fifth weight class.
