MANILA, Philippines – Smart’s Dindin Santiago will play in the Shakey’s V-League Open Conference Finals after all.
Santiago was initially ruled out of the Finals, but things took a sudden and unexpected turn after the National University star is set to suit up in Game 1 between the Net Spikers and the top ranked Cagayan Lady Rising Suns scheduled later at 4pm at the Arena in San Juan.
“[Dindin] will play,” Smart coach Roger Gorayeb confirmed to INQUIRER.net Tuesday.
Gorayeb, the multititled mentor, though, declined comment as to how Santiago was eventually cleared to play.
The six-foot-one Santiago made quite a debut for Smart with 19 points last Sunday in a thrilling five-set win over Philippine Army in the deciding game of the semifinals.
