VIENNA — Tommy Haas made history as he won his second Austrian Open title on Sunday a dozen years after claiming his first with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 defeat of Robin Haase.

Victory over the Dutchman took two and a quarter hours and denied Haase his third trophy in Austria after twice winning Kitzbuehel.

Haas, 35, who also won Munich on clay in the spring, stayed in the race for one of four spots remaining in the eight-man World Tour Finals starting in a fortnight in London. He currently stands provisional 12th.

Haas claimed the 15th title of his career from his 27th final and is the oldest of 14 over-30 players to win an ATP title this season.
